Tonight, I went for nachos at the Royal Oak with Michelle, who’s back from her South America adventures… Nachos? How unexpected of us! Anyways, we walked there from my place as it was quicker than the bus and it was just so nice outside. Walking together, I didn’t really pay attention to what was going on around me… We had a lovely evening chitchatting and catching up on our crazy crazy lives, watched a little bit of the hockey game as it was on tvs all around us, ran into her sister and just generally had a good time.
Walking back home, I realized how enjoyable walking is, when the surroundings aren’t too creepy! The only place I ever walk is from campus to home or vice versa; a shitty walk, where all you do is get creeped out by speeding busses and smell bus and car fumes, with the occasional sighting of rigor mortis rats. Now, I get to realize how close I am to the canal, to so many places to walk that I never took advantage of! Typically me, I notice that just as I have to leave the area for good!
So I need to make it a point to go walk around Sawbridgeworth everyday when I get to England! I need to get a bike so I can get slightly further too! If I don’t do that during my first two months at home, I’ll go completely coocoo… Not to mention I’ll get fat!
All that to say I quite enjoyed my little walk home and if I get the urge to get out of the house in the next little while, I’ll go for a walk to the canal and go for a beer at the Oak!
Oh and as an aside, the Oak is the funniest attempt at a British pub that I’ve ever had the chance to see… Big Boddingtons posters everywhere “The Cream of Manchester”… yeah like you wanna advertise anything is from Manchester… *snickers* And signs “To the Loo” pointing towards the washrooms… Funny how there is *also* a “Washrooms” sign next to it… I bet most ppl couldn’t figure out what the loo sign meant π
Oh and another aside… Go Sens Go or something? Silly hockey fans…
