I knew kids toys were getting worse than before, more disposable and more trendy than ever… But seeing this ad on the Cartoon Network absolutely shocked me.

Remember those post-barbie dolls? The My Scene girls? Well now they’ve got partnerships with shops. Granted they’re shops I like (I’ve got a definite soft spot for Sephora), but to teach such young girls to go on shopping sprees is just messed up! The doll in the TV ad ad says “The strappy shoes? The boots? No I’ll take them ALL!” as she walks out with her Aldo bag…

What more can I say… My kids are going to get Lego, bikes, blankets to build forts out of, books to make their imagination grow. I don’t think those stupid commercial toys are necessary at all! It’s just messed up!

One response to “can't believe this is for real…”

Hey, I was looking up these dolls and I found your site. I’m writing a paper about how disgusting this idea is. There is no reason for a little girl to pretend she is shopping at Sephora. Just thought I’d comment to tell you I totally agree with you about this horrible toy trend.
