Once, podcasting, like blogging, was hidden in the shadows, a hobby only a select few knew about.

Now, it’s become mainstream enough for Apple to make it an integral part of their iTunes software. But podcasts have changed. The same way blogging is being perverted by bosses blogging cheesy shop talk, podcasting is being used as a thinly-disguised commercial tool. Podcasts are properly edited, perfectly mixed and just… too glossy to feel real.

It’s meant to be spontaneous, natural, but the new types of podcasts are simply edited radio shows distributed in mp3 format.

Ah well, there will always be a few true podcasters.
