The 1970s Failure

After singing the praises of the concept of the 1970s Office, I shake my head and wonder why it developed the way it did. It was torn between an almost-documentary-on-advertising show and a reality tv rubbishy piece, and unfortunately, it went the reality tv way.

Joe, the office boy, is a plant, put there to annoy the living hell out of the real advertisers. The campaigns aren’t developing into anything worthy of the real world, and overall, the show isn’t turning into what anyone expected. I hoped to see in depth how campaigns were developed, while the general public probably hoped for a retro Big Brother…

Ah well, new show concepts can’t all succeed!
