Stylish blog, innit? Decided to simplify things and give in to using a WordPress template for my blog.

What’s great with those templates is their relative simplicity, making it possible for mortals like me to weasel their way through and change colours and images here and there to personalize it.
Funny how a new pair of pink velcro shoes can put me in a really good mood and make me skip around the office!
The reason I’m so happy about my new trainers is pretty simple, it’s the beginning of a new habit — Going to the gym everyday after work. I won’t do long gym sessions, just a half hour everyday (or longer if I’ve got to make up for a day when I haven’t been able to go), which is just enough to give me a new rush of energy! After a long day in the office, a bit of bootay-shaking can only do me good and wake me up. I’m hoping it’ll add that little bit of pep in my step that I feel I’m lacking since I left Uni (where I was walking everyday everywhere).
We’re also replacing our bed soon, which should make a difference in how well we sleep… a BIG difference. We’ve got the worst mattress in the world and it tends to result in the worst nights of sleep in the world too. I’m sooo looking forward to a smooth mattress top and no springs sticking in my hipbone when I try and get to sleep!
It’s Thursday, and this week has been like swiss cheese… Monday and Tuesday at work, Wednesday off sick, today in, and tomorrow off on holiday to go to Thorpe Park!
To finish my thoughts on Sky Plus, I’ll just say you’ve got to see it to believe it. I don’t think it will result in us watching more television, but instead, it will keep us from watching as much junk. When we get home after work, we don’t have to watch whatever after-work reruns of Friends and the Simpsons the channels spew out our way. Instead we can watch movies, series, documentaries we’ve recorded at any time of day or night in the past little while!
On another note, BBC News is questioning (again) the state of the housing market. We’re still hoping the prices will go down so we can buy in the next few months. It’d be ideal timing for us! How else can we buy!? The prices are so high at the moment, it’s unrealistic!
Last week, when I complained that I was annoyed we didn’t get Sky Plus installed right away, I only had a faint idea of what I was missing. Now that we’ve had it installed, I think YOU are all missing out! 😉
But seriously, it’s a mindblowingly good service! Forget to watch your fave show? Doesn’t matter, the box recorded it for you! It’s waiting for you to watch it whenever you want!

Ok, I had a day of hell, but since then, it’s only been getting better.
Payday for both of us… Oh and my mom got my GST return for $350 (about 50pence in English money hah) so that’ll pay for a few Student loan repayments!
Today, we went to Letchworth for the Karting. It was great fun! I never thought I’d catch on so quick. My best lap was 34.something seconds. It’s definitely not a bad time! I felt like I was in the Mario Kart game, with a whole lot more game feedback than a rumbly controller! I may like karting, but I still won’t get talked into going paintballing for one of Andrew’s coworkers’ leaving do. A bit too crazy and painful for my taste!
Tonight, we’re going for dinner at a Chinese restaurant in Old Harlow, with some friends. MmMmmmm we’re leaving any minute now. Well… As soon as the boys are done building this flat-pack wardrobe from B&Q. Seems to be going well enough, so hopefully we won’t end up with a contemporary coffee table instead!
Ahhh I love weekends.
This day better not get any worse or I’m gonna hurt someone!
Today was supposed to be great: I wasn’t in a rush to get in to work because I’m quite on top of things at the moment and I was taking the train in. Andrew was working from home so he would be available when the Sky Plus special heights team would come install our Sky satellite dish. That meant on Sunday I could watch My Big Fat Greek Wedding and pause it whenever I want!
But no. With my luck, it had to happen otherwise. My stupid annoying Bubble Bobble ringtone wakes me up at 7:45am (Ok fine it’s not early for you, but it’s early for me!) and it was the Sky Plus engineer calling to say he’d be over between 9am and 12oclock. Ah good, at least it’s good news!
I leave to catch my train, grumbling because it started raining the minute I opened the door. Stupid bloody shitty british weather *mumbles* Start walking to the train station, and well well, who calls… It’s the Sky engineer. I turn around, still within eye-shot of home, and his van looks nothing like a special heights team van. It’s a normal white van with very averagely sized ladders. I shrug and keep walking towards the station, my trousers picking up more and more of the rain that’s falling horizontally by now, thanks to the wind.
Get to the station, buy ticket, run across the road so I don’t miss the train. Andrew calls and confirms the engineer didn’t have the heights team equipment at all! Typical Sky, they send a normal engineer, hoping he can botch the job and install it anyways, and if it’s clear a heights team is needed, they resend the right team later on.
So now, I’m at work, my socks are wet, I’m grumpy, but the sun sure as hell has come back out. Just to nag me a bit more!
I need my weekend already… and a gym pass so I can go pass my frustration there!
There’s no question there. Saturday is gonna be the end of me.
I agreed to go karting in Letchworth.
I’m going with Andrew and our old housemates Hodgson and Dan. The two Andrew’s have been before and my Andrew came home with nice big bruises all over that wouldn’t go away, while the other Andrew came home with a beaming smile and a print-out that proved he got first place. Thankfully Dan’s going to be a bit more on the safe side like me I’m guessing.
If only the karting track wasn’t in the middle of an industrial estate, I’d go shopping for shoes or go buy some new books… but unless I want to go shop for car tires, looks like I’m going to sit in a kart (without doubt with a kid’s seat and lots of foam cushions because I’m so short) and see everyone overtake me repeatedly for half an hour! 😉
Andrew must be a bit masochist because, as if karting isn’t bad enough, he’s going paintballing the following weekend for Dave’s leaving do. Why can’t Dave plan a night to Vinopolis instead? That’s more my kind of event!
*bursts out laughing* I just noticed one of my coworkers looks a bit like Robert Llewellyn in his Kryten days… The rubbery expressionless face, and the googly eyes, but thankfully not the walk! 😉
Talking about Llewellyn, I’ve been reading his Man in the Rubber Mask book. Good laugh if you’ve seen at least some of the series, somewhat puzzling if you haven’t, I guess! Apparently, it’s not in stock anymore, which is a real shame!
Anyone have got good books to recommend?
I’d mentionned we were going to Rowhill Grange for our birthday weekend… But this weekend surpassed any expectations! We were offered the Groombridge suite, which is the honeymoon suite in which we stayed the night of the wedding. It’s got a bath the size of a jacuzzi and a 4 poster bed, it’s absolutely gorgeous!
The meal was delicious, and served by their ever-attentive waiters. The dessert was lovely, Andrew says it’s the best dessert he’s ever had, and he’s not a big Chocolate fondant fan usually!
The spa was very relaxing, as usual. We were almost alone in there some of the time so we spent all our time in the japanese relaxation pool.
Overall, it was great, but what’s the cherry on top of the already huge sundae is the fact that all of that cost us just about nothing. A normal weekend like that would have cost ?400 (over a thousand dollars!!), but it only cost us ?29 (?70ish) for our wine during the meal! How’s that for a birthday weekend?
