SMS.ac strikes again!
Now, if there’s a service that’s really winding me up, it’s that bullshit SMS service!
Following posting this apology on his blog, Joi received a Cease & Desist letter from the numbnuts at SMS.ac. What exactly IS supposed to be illegal in apologizing to friends for unacceptable spam behaviour from a service that doesn’t dish out what it claims it will? And how does this monkey business expect to avoid class action suit when targeting North Americans? Americans will jump on this like a fat kid on a smartie!
I’ve received repeated messages resembling emotional blackmail following the first message from each friend:

Who in their right mind will fall for this? If it pissed you off the first time, repeated messages like this will only make you blow a fuse! That’s nag-marketing at it’s poorest…

Something m-c said (in two different posts) has been making me think…
Wanting to be perfect, people just end up doing nothing. There is a balance one must find.
But whatever it is that i feel like doing,
for sure there will always be someone else to do it better than i do.When I was a teen, there isn’t a doubt, that is what kept me from doing a lot of things I wanted to do. The fear that those who can do better would point and laugh was enough to make me give up before I’d even started.
Things have changed, I’ve grown and I don’t feel like this quite as strongly. It’s still there and sometimes when I get halfway up the little mountain that is the goal I want to reach, I look at what I’ve achieved so far, get a bit of vertigo and want to run back down the hill to safety.
There are millions of people on the planet, there will always be someone who can do things better than me. I can’t let that stop me or I’ll never do anything. Like my driving instructor says, “Mistakes are an important part of the learning process… and those bastards* who are honking at us have all stalled their cars before too… No one’s perfect.”
* Ok, maybe he doesn’t say it in those words…

Contary to the typical speed of time on a Saturday (as stated above), when you are out of shape and on an exercise bike, time goes at 1/4 of the speed. And if said exercise bike’s seat kills your ass, time goes at 1/8 of the speed.”

I only just found out that today is meant to be some sort of no-blogging day.
“[The Committee to Protect Bloggers] is calling on the blogsphere – the name for the worldwide community of bloggers – to do what it can to help raise awareness of the plight of Mojtaba and Arash as well as other “cyber-dissidents”.
“Blogging is in this weird no man’s land. People think of it as being one thing or another depending on their point of view,” said Mr Hopkins. Some think of themselves as pundits, kind of like journalists, and some like me have a private blog which is just a publishing platform. But they do not have a constituency and are out there in the cold.”
A spokesman for Amnesty International said: “Just as the internet is a tool for freedom, so it is being used as an excuse for repression. “Amnesty International has recorded a growing number of cases of people detained or imprisoned for disseminating their beliefs or information through the internet, in countries such as China, Syria, Vietnam, the Maldives, Cuba, Iran and Zimbabwe.
“It is also shocking to realise that in the communications age just expressing support for an internet activist is enough to land people in jail.”
