This is another list that’ll grow as time goes by. Hopefully, I’ll get back into the habit of reading more than I do at the moment!
This list contains some of the things I want to do at some point in my life. Some are once-in-a-lifetime experiences, some will be ongoing things. Either way, it isn’t a complete list, just a glimpse into what I’d like to see and do! And by all means, it’s going to keep growing!
In a month and two days, Andrew and I will be going to Oxford to see Miss Saigon. It’s such a great musical, to see it on stage will be amazing! I’m so excited, just listening to the soundtrack gives me shivers.
I still haven’t found out who the cast is, but even though nothing measures up to Lea Salonga as Kim, I’m sure I’ll love it! At least, the biggest potential let-down, I’m already aware of — they couldn’t fit a real helicopter in the theatre so they’re using lasers to reproduce the image of it on a screen.
So soon, I’ll be counting the days till our lovely Oxford weekend 🙂
Who are you people visiting my blog? I’ve been looking at the statistics for my blog on a regular basis and the information gathered by Awstats is fascinating!
For example, the highest number of visits are from the USA. I don’t recall giving the address to my blog to anyone in the US, so it must’ve happened through search engines and blog directories! Second comes the European Union, closely followed by Canada. Now those Canadians, I can bet I know who they are 🙂 It’s good to know they’re still reading me! The UK results aren’t comparable to the visits from the first three countries, even including all my own visits to the blog to update it! Then there’s about 25 more countries, from every part of the world, which is incredible! It makes me want to know who those people are!
When it comes to keywords, the most popular search keyphrase so far this month from Google, Yahoo and MSN search engines have been “If you leave me now” and other variations on the lyrics and content of the absolutely mad Three mobile adverts that I talked about in a previous post. Next, it seems a lot of people like the 1970s Office as much as I do, as it comes up as second most popular search, closely followed by people looking for “honeymoon photos”. A few people searched for sushi in Menorca, somehow I don’t think they’ll have much luck. Better stick to tapas, fresh bread and cheese.
Now for the oddest search results, there’s someone who searched for “if you re being chased by a police dog try not to go through a tunnel” and landed on my blog! The total winner for bizarre result is “looking for people who want to have sex”. I mean what kind of weirdo types that into a search engine and expects to find those people?! Which leads to further questionning, how the hell did that lead him/her to MY blog?! Of course, I’m aware I’m only getting myself in trouble here, because the search engines will catalogue this page as well, and it’ll only confuse those desperate weirdos some more!

I never thought this was possible, but I think in a way I’m missing being in school…
Who would’ve thought… Afterall, I felt ready to jump off a bridge every time I had readings to do for Darren Barney’s next lecture on Theories of Communication (remember falling asleep in class, Hey?) and I was really annoyed with Bélanger’s constant quizzes on readings, which I failed even if I’d read the whole chapter! (Yes, my memory IS that crummy!)
Yet, now I’m missing the adrenaline rush of advertising campaigns and team projects, living vicariously instead through the 1970s Office’s Spacehopper campaign. I’m missing the terribly early Sunday morning meetings at my apartment, trying to develop ideas over oversized cups of strong coffee. Unbelievably, I’m even missing the essay-writing process, mulling over ideas for a couple of weeks and then spending a few days procrastinating, thinking I should start putting the ideas on paper, followed by a bit of panic, a lot of coffee and a couple of late nights to finally finish the essay just in time to get to class fashionably late and hand it in.
Even though I didn’t exactly have an exciting social life during my university years, I really enjoyed myself. Sure, working here is pretty good, but I’m considering getting my marketing certificate over the next few years just for personal enjoyment…
Yeah ok I’m probably mad, and will probably totally regret it once I get started. Maybe all I really miss is the IDEA of university!
I can’t believe it’s already a week ago… Last Friday was Guy Fawkes day so we celebrated by having a big bonfire night at Andrew’s parents’ house. The fireworks were amazing, and the gathering of friends and family was good fun!
I wish I’d taken photos… We have video which I’m sure I’ll show some of you sooner or later. And we’ve got great memories of a fun evening! “Watch out! The sticks are falling from the sky!!!”
What else… It’s Friday, I feel somewhat more rested because of the new mattress… Tomorrow morning, it’ll be impossible to get me out of bed… I’m spending the whole day snuggled up in bed!
I haven’t posted much at all this week, sorry guys! I’ve been madly busy at work and distracted and tired at home…
We received our new mattress this afternoon, nice and firm compared to the crummy old mattress we had before! Can’t wait to go to bed and see how it feels! For now though, I’ve got to go watch Red Dwarf 5, the dvd arrived yesterday and they’re GREAT episodes!

Those who have visited our apartment know we live right next to busy train tracks. Recently, there has been some work done on the rails. We guessed the work would mean quieter tracks and less rumble as the trains go by, since usually when work gets done, it’s to straighten and tighten the tracks. Our apartment has never rumbled as much as it has since that work has been done!!
A BBC show, Whistleblower, confirmed my concerns about the safety of the trains across the country. Three journalists became undercover rail workers, and their discoveries were nothing less than alarming. The employees were careless when working, disregarding basic safety common sense, let alone Network Rail regulations. All in all, taking the train doesn’t feel very safe anymore.
As if trains weren’t in the spotlight enough after this show, last night, six people died and five more were severely injured in a train crash between London and Plymouth. A car remained on the tracks at a railroad crossing and the train hit it at full speed, causing all eight carriages to leave the tracks. So in this case, it isn’t related to track safety as they uncovered in the show, we can only really blame the driver of the car who was on the tracks for the derailment.
Walking and driving suddenly feels like a pretty good idea…
